And long story short, I get it. I really do! I'd watched maybe one or two episodes before (when they were in conjunction to a song I wanted to dance to, so I watched the episode for understanding context), and I never quite got the whole scope of the show and it's appeal before watching this premiere. I didn't understand all the routes the show took, because I didn't get the whole backstory (like how when I got into Dr Who I was on the tail end of Rose's story, and as such didn't feel much emotional hurt when those two were separated!). But in terms of the writing, I understand the appeal now! There's a lot of situations in this show that I can see both kids and adults relating to, and honestly it was refreshing to have those ideas staged so well, even in a fictitious setting. The characters were awesome, I knew immediately that anyone in the room could relate to at least ONE of the cutesy colorful ponies. The art style was fun, I liked the vastness of the world that this premiere presented, and after a quick look at some of the teased plotlines for future episodes, I definitely think I'll find an appreciation for MLP that doesn't end with the great remixes brony musicians make.
